Hunter Perrin’s Ebook Maker is an open source program capable of embedding a whole web page into a single executable file. This will allow you to carry and show any web site without needing to go online, as well as to distribute copies of it quickly and safely: the HTML code can be encrypted, and you can even add a password for further protection.
The process is really simple – just create a new folder and save your whole web page there, load the home page to Ebook Maker and it will gather all the files necessary to export your web site as an executable file. The EXE file can then be sent via email and opened on any Windows PC, allowing the recipients to enjoy your web pages any time anywhere. This may come extremely handy when no Internet connection is available, allowing you to show and revise your web pages offline, and to prevent that annoying “demo effect” from ruining your presentations.
The program also generates a viewer to which you can add a useful navigation toolbar, which may also include a “Search Button” to allow you find a specific piece of text within the web page. Finally, you can define the width and height of the viewer’s window, and protect the content by encrypting the HTML text and/or by adding a password to the executable file.
